Weather plays a Big Role in Sports this Weekend!!

A look at the Castle Stuart Golf Links Golf Course – Part 2

I didn’t think I would ever write one of these blogs about the weather, but it will be a big part in two big sporting events. The Scottish Open has been cut to three rounds after heavy storms made the beautiful course at Castle Stuart look ugly.  Players who had a favourable draw for tee-times, like McDowell, Jamieson and Whiteford made the course look easy, but when the weather attacked play was disrupted and the players distracted. Another  big event is the F1 this weekend at Silverstone, an exciting qualifying centred around the limiting of ‘off-throttle blowing of the diffuser’, which allows for extra down force and grip around corners, but in the end it didn’t make much difference to Red Bull…. P1 and P2. The weather however did affect McLaren and they weren’t able to put in a final fast lap to help improve their positions in ‘Qualifying 3’.

Weather forecasters predict rain at British Grand Prix

The story is only half written in these two big sporting events that are taking place in Scotland and England, with the weather set to make things even more interesting. Button and Hamilton are undoubtedly some of the best drivers in changeable conditions, but it is a very difficult track to overtake on, making it an interesting race to watch especially if it rains. A lot of pressure will be put on getting the right race strategy and the right weather to suit each driver. The Scottish Open should be fun with rain and winds expected to hit the course from 1 or 2 onwards, making it more difficult for later starters. We could therefore see a lot of players clumped up on the leader board, making it anyone’s game.
I’m not sure whether it is just me, but I like watching professionals in any sport being put out of their comfort zone and battling the elements to come out on top, and if we see a few crashes or ‘blow ups’ then it’s always fun.

How do you think things will play out? More importantly what bets look good?
